Templates

By Docvora Assistant 1 mins 2

Templates provide a starting point for creating repeatable page content in Docvora. They are useful where the same structure, formatting or blocks are used across multiple pages.

Creating a template

When a page is being created, the Publish control includes a dropdown option to save the current page as a template.

The template uses the current page title as its name.

Only the page content is saved into the template. Page-specific settings such as space, parent page, visibility, width and permissions are not included.

Templates can contain any supported editor content, including:

  • Text and formatting

  • Images

  • Uploaded files

  • Tables

  • Code blocks

  • Information panels

  • API blocks

  • Sync Blocks

  • Other supported editor blocks

Uploaded files remain referenced rather than being duplicated when the template is used.

Using a template

Templates can be inserted from the editor toolbar or through the slash command menu.

Available templates can be searched or selected from the list.

When a template is inserted, its content is copied into the page as normal editable content. The inserted content is not linked back to the template.

This means later changes to a template do not affect pages that were previously created from it.

More than one template can be inserted into the same page.

Managing templates

Templates can be managed from the dedicated Templates area in the staff panel.

Templates cannot currently be edited directly. Where changes are required, the template content can be inserted into a page, updated, and then saved as a new template.

Templates can also be deleted from the staff area.

Template access follows the existing page permission system rather than using a separate template permission.

Templates are available on Pro and Enterprise plans.
