Content & Editing
Pages contain the individual pieces of content within a Docvora space. Pages can be created, edited, moved, archived, hidden or deleted depending on the permissions assigned to an account.
Pages behave the same regardless of whether a Docvora instance is being used for public documentation, private documentation or an internal knowledge base. Access and visibility settings determine who can view the content.
A new page can be created from the staff area using Create Page.
Where permissions allow, a page can also be created directly from a space using the create button at the bottom of the page list.
The page editor contains a title field and the main content editor. When publishing a page, the following settings are available:
Space
Parent page
URL identifier
Group access
Visibility
Pin page
The page title, URL identifier and space are required.
The URL identifier is automatically generated from the page title and can be changed before the page is published.
While a page is being created, Docvora automatically saves the content as a draft. This allows unfinished content to be returned to later without publishing it.
When viewing a page or space, the Edit button is available in the top right corner where the required permissions are present.
Changes made in the editor are automatically saved as a draft while editing. These draft changes are separate from the currently published version until the page is published again.
This allows changes to be worked on without immediately changing the content available to readers.
A page can be moved by changing its location when publishing changes.
The page settings allow a different space or parent page to be selected. Changing the space moves the page into another space, while changing the parent page changes its position within the page structure.
Moving pages requires the appropriate page editing permissions.
Deleting a page removes it from Docvora.
A confirmation window is displayed before the deletion is completed to reduce accidental removal.
Deletion requires the Page Delete permission.
When content may be required again later, archiving should be considered instead of deletion.
Archiving removes a page from the normal page list without deleting its content.
Archived pages can still be accessed directly using their URL. When an archived page is opened, a notice is displayed at the beginning of the content to indicate that the page has been archived.
Pages can be archived from the page list in the staff panel where the appropriate permission is available.
Archived pages are available from the Archived Pages tab in the staff panel, where they can also be restored.
Archiving requires the Page Archive permission.
A hidden page does not appear in the normal page list but remains available through its direct URL.
Hidden pages are also excluded from:
Search results
Child Pages blocks
Automatically generated navigation
This makes hidden pages useful for content that should remain accessible through a known link without appearing as part of the normal documentation structure.
Page management actions are controlled through Docvora's permission system. Permissions can be assigned as granularly as required by an administrator.
Permissions relevant to page management include:
Page View
Page Create
Page Edit
Page Archive
Page Delete
The options available when viewing or managing a page depend on the permissions assigned to the account.
