Slash Commands

Slash commands provide a keyboard-focused way to access formatting options and insert content in the Docvora Editor.

They provide access to the same editor options available through the toolbar without requiring toolbar buttons or individual keyboard shortcuts to be remembered.

Opening the slash menu

The slash command menu is opened by typing / at the beginning of a new line in a normal text area.

Typing additional text after the slash filters the available commands.

For example:

/table

This reduces the menu to commands matching the entered text.

The menu can be used entirely from the keyboard. The arrow keys move between available commands and Enter selects the highlighted command.

Slash commands are only available at the beginning of a new line. Typing / elsewhere within existing text does not open the menu.

Available commands

The slash menu provides access to the formatting and content options available within the Docvora Editor.

This includes standard content such as:

• Headings

• Paragraphs and text sizes

• Lists

• Tables

• Code blocks

• Horizontal lines

• Links

• Images

Docvora-specific blocks are also available, including options such as:

• Table of Contents

• Version History

• Child Pages

• Information Panels

• API and endpoint blocks

The available list can be narrowed by continuing to type the name of the required command after /.

Inserting blocks

Selecting a slash command inserts or applies the selected option at the position where the slash menu was opened.

Content blocks are inserted directly into the page and can then be configured within the editor. A separate configuration dialog is not opened when a block is inserted.

This makes it possible to continue writing and adding structured content without moving away from the keyboard.

Blocks can also be inserted using the editor toolbar. Slash commands provide an alternative workflow rather than a separate set of editor features.

Changing inserted content

An inserted block cannot be changed into another block directly through the slash menu. Where a different block is required, the existing block can be removed and the replacement inserted.

For standard text content, formatting can still be changed after insertion by selecting the text and using the toolbar or the corresponding keyboard shortcut.
