Text Formatting

By Docvora Assistant 2 mins 3

The Docvora Editor provides a range of text formatting options for organising content and highlighting important information.

Formatting can be applied before typing or to existing selected text. Most options are available from both the toolbar and the slash command menu.

Headings

Docvora supports heading levels H1 through H6.

Headings can be selected from the editor toolbar or inserted using slash commands.

Heading levels can be used to organise content into sections and subsections. They are also used by features such as the Table of Contents block to identify page sections.

Paragraphs

Normal body content uses the Paragraph text style.

Paragraphs can be selected using the T option in the toolbar or through the slash command menu.

Pressing Enter while writing creates a new paragraph.

Small text

Small Text provides a reduced text size for content that should appear less prominent than a standard paragraph.

Small Text can be selected from the text style controls or inserted through slash commands.

Bold, italic and other formatting

The editor supports several inline formatting options, including:

  • Bold

  • Italic

  • Underline

  • Strikethrough

  • Inline code

  • Text colour

  • Text highlighting

  • Links

Formatting can be applied to selected text or enabled before typing.

Common keyboard shortcuts are also supported. For example, inline code can be toggled using Ctrl + E on Windows and Linux or Command + E on macOS.

Keyboard shortcuts for other toolbar actions can be viewed by hovering over the relevant toolbar button.

Text alignment

Text can be aligned using four options:

  • Left

  • Centre

  • Right

  • Justified

Alignment is applied to the paragraph or block rather than individual words within it.

The active alignment is highlighted in the toolbar while editing the selected block.

Text colour

The Text Colour control uses the brush icon in the toolbar.

A colour can be selected from the available palette and applied to existing selected text or used for newly entered text.

The available colour palette is configured by the site administrator.

Text colour can also be cleared to return the content to its default colour.

Text highlighting

The Text Highlight control is located beside the Text Colour control and uses the highlighter icon.

Highlighting applies a background colour behind the selected text.

Highlight colours are selected from a predefined palette configured by the site administrator.

Highlighting can be removed to return the text to its normal appearance.
